ZANZIBAR ISLAND.

We had a great time this last weekend. Nick and I took a 15 min airplane ride to Zanzibar. We had a wonderful time. We have not had a weekend just the two of us in years. We did enjoy the peaceful town and happy people but that is not the reason we visited! We left Friday and had that aft to visit one of my old friends from RVA and talked about life and work on the Island. We then had the evening to shop the streets and then ate at a little Italian restaurant that we came across. The next morning we had a meeting to discuss with a church committee about steps that they need to take next. We enjoyed their hospitality. Nick did a great job talking in Swahili for the whole meeting. That afternoon we went back to the hotel and walked the streets of stone town, touring the historical ancient town. It was fun to be a tourist for once!! I loved it. Ate that evening at a really nice restaurant then went to bed. (We were tired from walking so much. ;)
Sunday we went to church (all in Swahili) from 10-2:30 but it did not seem that long without the kids there. The church was warm and full of people who love to serve and worship the Lord. We felt very much apart of them. We went then to pastors house for lunch. It was really neat to see their house and meet the rest of their family. They then took us to the airport at 4. We came back and picked up the kids. The Hansons did a wonderful job taking care of our kids and we are so grateful for their help. It isn't easy having other peoples kids that cannot get wet (because Lexxi had stitches and Ethan had a gash in his head, from a little girl throwing a rock at his head, that he could have used some stitches as well) when you live in a hot climate!
THANK YOU HANSONS. Overall a wonderful, productive trip.

My friend Daisy, husband Matti,
sons Romeo and Gabriel.

Our Hotel. We stayed at the Tembo. Resident
rates are different than tourists and it is also all
about who you know to get the best prices!

The night view of the Tembo.

The Kamati (committee) meeting on Saturday.

People gather to talk on the grass or benches
or eat from the venders a variety of things. The
kids all play in the water, all jumping off the edge to see
who can make the biggest splash or do the coolest dive.
They have a lot of fun. Community is what life there
is all about.

This is what the little streets of Stone town look like.
Filled with people, bikes and piki pikies. And now a days
Lots and lots of tourists.

Nick and I at dinner one night.

After dinner, walking the streets. I look skinny with a bigger head!
Was a full 'put on top of your head' mask.

Pastor and his wife with one of there daughters, Ruth.
We pray a blessing on there household, and their children,
that God will continue to use and bless them for the work
they are doing for Him! Please keep them in your prayers.
