Friday night we went out to a sports club for the kids to play soccer. We had a good night with friends, hanging and chatting.
Written by Nick:
On our way home from TGT (near the Arsuha Airport) we were t boned on the drivers side by a drunk driver. We are so thankful for God’s protection. We are all safe and unharmed. We were hit towards the front of the driver side door, with the side runner and front wheel hub (???) taking most of the impact.
We were thrown about 10 feet sideways off the road. We pulled away from the accident to make sure that nothing (or no one else) was coming from another direction. So much crime is happening lately in Arusha, you just never know. We were fortunate to be followed by close friends, so they sped ahead to bring police. A small crowd gathered and it felt like things were getting tense. Askaris from the various compounds started to show, some had pangas and other had guns. God’s hand was there as the tension seemed to break and folks reacted very calmly.
Our friends brought the police and took Kimbra and the kids home while I stayed to finish the business. Another blessing came at the police station. Policy says that the cars involved have to stay at the station until the report is finalized. At 11 pm nothing was going to get finalized so I insisted that my car be released so that I could come in the morning. They agreed, so my the car was saved from midnight pilfering.
Everything indicates that the other driver is completely at fault, even though he is claiming is motioned him through the intersection. When asked to get a photo copy of his insurance, he asked “what’s that.”
So we continue on with the mind numbing processes and follows ups that make TZ so much fun to live in. Thanks for the prayers for safety and keep praying that our car can be repaired properly. There is a slight chance that damage to the frame could make it a loss.

The damage to our car. It just looks like a dent but there is more unseen in the inside.

The other guys car. The guy looked so out of it with a huge cut on his head. He shouldn't have been drinking and driving! Still he was in his twenties, my heart felt sorry for him.
My Concern:
A few days ago I had had a dream. It was so vivid and realistic. Nick and I were on a date and were walking out of a lighted quarry at night. On the way out, there were three cars with their lights on parked in the parking lot. A man in a blue collard shirt and curly hair started walking towards us to our side. He picked up a rock that was lining the drive and started walking at us. Nick didn't see him but I did. He came at me with the rock and hit my head. Startled Nick tried to look after me. But then the guy pulled out a bottle from his back and hit nick over the head and then stabbed him with the remaining bottle. I quickly awoke very concerned for Nick. I never have morbid dreams like this and when ever they are this vivid or real they usually mean something for me. Puzzled by this dream for days I didn't understand what it meant. When the accident happened, in the area of town we were in I literally thought at first that it was a decoy... to get us to stop. When hit, Nick asked me if I was ok because he hit my head with his. I felt fine but said keep going keep going dont stop! When we got a few feet away we decided to wait until we saw other cars around to know that we were not all alone. So many people stopped to help. But the same fear in my dream from being distracted by a decoy I felt in the accident. Many times I felt very unsafe. I saw a man walking with a machete under his shirt shirtsleeve with the handle in his hand. Nick was already out of the car and trying to help the drunk driver. I screamed HE HAS A PANGA UP HIS SLEEVE NICK! Nick came to the car and said I am aware, because of the dream you had, I am on my guard, just pray. Then a few mins later a man with a mask and gun shows up. claimed he was an askari (a guard-who had no uniform) for some company in the area. At any time something could have flared up. The kids and I were in the car praying. Our friends past us and went to get the police then returned to take the kids and I home. My friends 7 year old boy said as soon as he saw the accident "mom we must pray, this is the bad side of town they need angels." He prayed for us, our team had the word out and people were praying. I truly believe God's hand was holding us. Our poor car, but even in that it was a miracle that the man hit our tire and not just Nick and Ethan's door. He was going so fast as he t-boned us.
I am just so thankful that the Lord is watching us like this and even though our car will be in the shop tomorrow and how inconvenient to not have a car for our ministry for a while there is still a reason why it all happened. Please pray with us while we wait! :0)
