Thanksgiving at the Stuva's.

We were very lucky to have our good friends David and Drea Bonjiourno come down from Arusha to visit. It was so nice to have friends live with us for a couple of days! They got here Wednesday afternoon. Thursday, after art class I took Drea shopping to the handful of places we have to shop here, (thats a handful more than Arusha!) She loved it. Nick went to a meeting with David. Friday we went to Makutano. Big African arts exibit. People are so very creative with the natural resourses available. It was fun. That evening we got things ready to have everyone over for Thanksgiving. Here is the prep work... David used his talent to make dead turkeys for us from our cloth napkins. Drea was a chef and baked a lot. Nick and David helped with the apples.

I did stuff too, I worked on the table. I am so thankful for the beautiful berrie plant that Drea brought me from Arusha, it made a great center piece.

It's hot season so I was hoping the power would stay on the whole day so we could use the air conditioner but it went on and off all day long. :( It was hot. the kids had the good breeze out on the porch.

Saturday crowd. Just picture Ethan and I in the picture too. Steve Kurt with his friend from Burundi, Paul Freeman, Walker Kuykendall, the Bonjiournos and the Hanson family and Us. 14 people. Mostly mission related.

We had 15 lb turkey with 2 chickens just in case. Turkey was so expensive! But we only have it once a year. This time of year. mashed pots, green beans, stuffing, corn, mashed squash, Cranberry-mango-walnut salad, mixed spiced vegs, homemade rolls and cranberry sauce. SOO yummy. Four pies. berry, apple, chocolate and pumkin. Icecream and sparkling grape juice. After we ate, some played games, kids watched a movie, some dipped into the pies... :) It went well. Nothing burnt so that was good.

After it all we went to the beach, the guys played bache ball and we just watched, tummies full. People left around 6-630. It was so nice to have Flora here to help we with the clean up. What a blessing she is. It was a nice thanksgiving, we have a lot to be thankful for!
