Full Circle.

What a privilege it is to be able to see a project come full circle! Just a few months ago we were doing molds on many people around Tanzania to fit them for a hearing aid. And just this week for two days we got to be apart of giving the gift of hearing to many. In Arusha we met at self to self help. We saw people from Arusha area, many school children aslo people from Mbulu. Starkey foundation was the one in charge, they had team of people come out to fit the people with the aids. it was a process... Registration, find name and pick up molds (which was a disaster at first since we were given 9 bags full of hundreds of people from all over TZ and we only needed the Arusha ones for the first day and the moshi ones for the second day! we had a lot of reorganizing to do. Anyway Naomi, Johnson and I were on registration duty. Then they went and were fitted by the team, given 9 months worth of battery then after care was explained to them by Nick, our guy Jackson and Justin.

The tent is where they fitted everyone.

Names were in snack bags and arranged in alphabetical order. It was windy so we put them all in a box.

Starkey foundation and the team. The TAG held a press conference on tv about it all. Our head leadership for Tanzania was there and those also in our department. This doctor with the white hair fitted the Pope, Ozi Osborne and one of the American presidents with hearing aids. Another person donated all the raovac batteries, and another donated all the hearing aids which were said to be a $3000 item. The team was not a christian team which was a little difficult to work with as they are very American and have little knowledge of African culture. However we felt that the TAG represented Christ very well in every given chance.

The tent started to fill up fast. Mtokambali, Show, Assistant district social commissioner and Pastor Joshua pictured above.

Where they go for the counseling of it all... How to take care of it and everything. Justin was one of the nicest guys on the team. Jackson a fast learner got the hang of helping them understand their new gift.

Some of the happy faces, it was emotional for some. Never being able to hear and then you do?!! For some it didnt help... they just couldn't hear much at all.

Schools came in one at a time.

The older Mamas were so happy to hear again!!

Such sweet face.

The kids were so cute and happy.

This is the school we did the molds at and the one kid Abdul that we thought was so fun.... He signed that the hearing aid has too much noise. He thinks its interesting but kinda likes it quiet. :) The hearing aids will last maybe a year. But even so it will help people to be able to pick up on social ques now. To understand whats normal and how people talk. Everyone got a medal as well. we left in time to pick up the kids at the bus stand. It was a long but great day!

MOSHI

Tuesday we did the same thing... just in Moshi. We registered 200 people Tuesday and Starkey people even took some walk ins about 30 of them. This is them doing their thing...

Jackson doing the explaning of how to care for the aids.

Some of my favorite pictures... I noticed there were many blue eyed children, which is rare to see but it got my attention and I did some research on it. It does not mean they have a white gene somewhere in them... it is a gene of Albinism. I thought they were so beautiful.

The girl in the middle. I saw her eyes from afar. and then this one with one blue and one brown.

So cool.

A happy bibi and Me. She was so happy to hear!

Now thats a sweet smile.

My favorite. I wanted this child!! She was so cute and sweet at registration. We were exhausted after Moshi but it was so fun to see familiar faces all day long that we had done the molds on weeks before. What a great experience to be apart of... just this morning we saw an article from the ippmedia online and it mentioned nothing about all the work the TAG did for this operation. They did a great job and spent so much time doing all the ground work, I was very proud to be apart of them! Thank you Lord for all the ways you use people to bring Glory to YOUR kingdom.
