Dar to Mtwara.

The night that we stayed in Dar the kids got to spend the night with their long time friends from HOPAC. Josh and Emma are really cool kids and we really enjoy hanging out with their family the few times we have gotten together. The next day we took them to eat at the new Makutano House. They had a great time together. We left the next day early headed to Mtwara.

The drive to the south. Lots of untouched land, very village.

After 9 hours of driving on some rough roads we made it to Mikindani. We stayed the night at the old Boma. Neat place. Lots of history.

It had a pool so the kids swam for a while. Then we went into the village to look around and see the people.

This is the old slave house. The arches did not used to be filled in. They were open and this is where they would sell the slaves. : (

The is the first and only bank that was in this town.

The old doors.

Not sure what this building was but it was neat. No signs and no one saying we couldn't go in. the walls were made of coral.

The market place, very few vegs, mostly just fish.

The Mosque in the village.

A wooden map of Tanzania.

We stayed in the Livingstone Room. He had history in this little town. He lived in a building for 3 months just below the Old Boma, right before he headed on his last journey, the last time he was seen a live to try and find the source of the Nile. They are restoring his hotel to preserve the history.

After our walk out in the village the kids made some friends and they all played together for the afternoon just outside the Boma.

We traveled to Mtwara for a few days. This is a very strange town. Not very big but it has the second largest Port in Tanzania and its the begging of something big. There were many people there from all over the world, and this was one of the only hotels there.

The kids made a friend they played with everyday for the few days we were there. Neville. He spoke Portugese. But language barriers are not an issue for kids! They had so much fun snorkeling together and collecting sea glass and shells. Ethan had a crab claw collection, that I did not let him bring with us on the rest of the trip. They smelt sooo bad, so we just took a picture.

We made a picture with some of the shells that were broken.

The coral was neat and the kids made a BOMA, a house. Little caves were their rooms and they had kitchen and living room and even a water slide! lol They had fun and deserved it, it was a long trip we were on.

Making a sand castle of the Boma at Mikindani.

One day Nick traveled to Mtama and back 3 hours one day to visit the Bible trade school of the TAG. He has been working with them to maximize the 50 acres of Cashew nuts trees the school sits on. Very excited aobut this Micro enterprize. They were so encouraged to see Nick and to think of the possibilites it will bring to the village.

One evening. Nick drinking a coke for a supporting church who is doing the theme "If coke can be everywhere so can we!" and asking all people they support to send in a pic of them drinking a coke! Neat idea. One night while eating chicken and chips we saw whales out in the Harbor. It was amazingly beautiful to see. they were so close so that means the water is really deep out there! We then headed back to Dar after a few days of enjoying the South.
